Current methods for placement of pedicle screws in the vertebrae are complicated and time consuming. They require the time to penetrate the cortex, probe the pedicle and confirm proper insertion position and orientation.

SafePath is an FDA registered, patented disposable bone drill designed to facilitate a safe, fast, accurate and reliable nucleation within the pedicle. In conjunction with the custom inserter, SafePath will self center while taking the path of least resistance, providing a nucleus from the posterior anatomical recesses to the vertebral body. Consequently, SafePath serves as a temporary intra-operative radiographic bone marker and bone anchor when used with Mekanika's SSG System.
