MEKANIKA JOINS
WITH FAU,
MOVES TO LARGER HEADQUARTERS
(Boca Raton, FL) - Mekanika, Inc., "The Spinal Stabilization
Company," is exploring joint ventures with Florida Atlantic University
(FAU) in a number of new surgical educational programs.
This opportunity is a result of Mekanika's move to expanded new
corporate offices within FAU's R&D park on their Boca Raton campus.
The company's new address is 3998 F.A.U. Boulevard, Boca Raton,
Florida, 33431.
The larger, expanded offices are needed to support the additional
staffing required for the launch of the Mekanika Spinal Stabilization
System into the $2 billion worldwide spinal implant market. The
new offices on the FAU campus will be used to start manufacturing
and expand product development, with the possible support from FAU
engineering department resources and students.
Mekanika expects leading spine surgeons worldwide to visit their
facility and attend planned surgeon education programs, which will
build a further reputation for FAU and Mekanika's spinal technology
and educational expertise. It will also help stimulate the growth
of medical technology in Palm Beach County.
Mekanika's FDA cleared Spinal Stiffness Gauge (SSG) measures spine
joint stability and gives surgeons the first truly accurate diagnostic
tool for determining whether spinal fusion is warranted. Other products
include the FDA registered SafePath™ Bone Drill which can be used
with the SSG™ and is a patented, disposable drill designed to facilitate
a safe, fast, accurate and reliable nucleation within the pedicle.
Mekanika has two patented breakthrough carbon fiber devices being
developed for clinical testing: the Rigid Implantable Spinal Assist
Device™ (RISAD)-a stronger, lighter easier to implant spinal
fusion device-and the Compliant Implantable Spinal Assist Device™
(CISAD), which gives surgeons the alternative of stabilizing the
spine without fusion, maintaining joint flexibility.
